Trail Report :: Updated April 7, 2015

Winter's back in Bozeman, for now anyways.

Trails have been unseasonably great surrounding Bozeman until this week so it might not be too long again once the hills look clear and are begging for a shred.

Leverich Canyon is one of the trails our local MTB club, The Dirt Concern of GVBC has adopted and on a normal year, we're questioning if we can even get foot traffic on it for National Trails Day work in early June. This year however, we've already gotten the trees cleared and the dirt's been tacky weeks ago — so as much as it was really rad to get out early this season, we're just going to welcome this precipitation so we hopefully can still rip around in the woods come late summer without fires closing us out.

Sypes and other south and west facing trails surrounding town had been great too before this last spell. This afternoon after the snow things already look to be clearing out in that direction (well what we can see from our shop anyways).

Helena, MT is about 1.5 hours northwest from here and they have had the same season so far, but this storm cell hasn't effected them as much as here so on warmer days you'll find some goods to be had up there. Before you go, give our good friends at the Gravity Guild Garage a call for current conditions, and make sure to hit up the Blackfoot Brewery for aprés.

Closer to home, Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park and Pipestone, MT are great bets for early and late season riding, but we haven't heard if they missed this precipitation. Call the shop if you're interested in heading out and we'll let you know if we heard anything since posting.

Back to this long list of repairs, from the looks of it you'd think it was July around here!

Happy Trails,

-Stevo!
